This might well be what you want, of course, but speaking as someone who isn’t here first and foremost for the love of the setting, I’m not entirely sure all those Kickstarter funbucks have been spent quite as effectively as they could have been.
SHADOWRUN HONG KONG PDF REVIEW PLUS
If you’ve been round the neon block a few times already, then Hong Kong’s going to feel pretty familiar, despite being perfectly solid and having a few new toys plus a wider, more ostentatious stage than ever before.

But it’s no Dragonfall, and that’s a shame. I’d even wager it’s better than the original Shadowrun Returns campaign. Shadowrun: Hong Kong is still an excellent CRPG-Harebrained has turned out another great campaign for fans, and I highly recommend playing through it if you loved the two previous iterations. PCWorld - When life gives you chopsticks, stab someone - 4/5 But the game really struggles to hold in a year when RPGs are at their best. If you enjoyed Dragonfall, there’s some things you’re sure to like in Hong Kong.
SHADOWRUN HONG KONG PDF REVIEW SERIES
Hong Kong might not be that much worse than Dragonfall, the problem might be in the repetition in the design of the series and the way competitors have raised the bar. The problem is that what felt fresh and fun a year and a half ago suddenly feels dated. It reads the same, it looks the same, it plays the same. Hong Kong is still a Hairbrained Shadowrun game through and through. It’s accessible, entertaining and priced just right. And anyone who didn’t and felt like they missed out can dive right in. Anyone who enjoyed Dragonfall would be wise to double-down and purchase Shadowrun: Hong Kong. It checks all the boxes for a robust Shadowrun experience. Shadowrun fans will find a lot to like about this game. IDigital - The Best Cyberpunk Franchise Gets Even Better - 5/5 With the inclusion of the Unity editor, this platform will only get better as time goes on.
SHADOWRUN HONG KONG PDF REVIEW LICENSE
Instead of expecting the license to do all of the heavy lifting, Harebrained has instead created a good game and then set it into the mythos of 'Shadowrun'. 'Shadowrun: Hong Kong' is an old-school style strategy experience with one of the most interesting settings in contemporary tabletop gaming. If you are, though, there’s just that much more to get lost in here. The best part is, you don’t have to be a Shadowrun fan to love it. Whether it’s dialogue and story or character, combat, exploration and loadout options, this is about as close as folks are going to get to a tabletop experience. As a result, players are left with a magical cRPG that gives players so many options. It builds on the past games in subtle but smart ways, fixing what was broken, and not touching what wasn’t.

We’ve said it practically with each new Shadowrun Harebrained Schemes puts out, and we’ll say it again for Hong Kong: this is the most definitive, comprehensive and polished version of Shadowrun on the market. This was a difficult task to pull off and risked alienating a large portion of the game’s audience so Harebrained Schemes have my wholehearted congratulations on a game well done and a story well told. So many of the interactions, cultural references, legends, and even magics are uniquely Chinese and explored so deftly that it’s impossible to complain. In the end Shadowrun: Hong Kong is possibly one of the best games out there for anyone interested in exploring Chinese culture. We anticipate releasing it in early 2016. The remaining digital rewards, Into the Shadows Anthology, Shadowrun: Hong Kong Sourcebook, HiRes Panoramic Timeline and Glossary Posters, Shadowrun: Hong Kong Digital Map and Shadowrun: Hong Kong eNovel are all slated to be delivered in December.Īs soon as the team is finished with Shadowrun: Hong Kong, we'll be rolling onto the Shadows of Hong Kong mini-campaign.

What About the Rest of the Digital Rewards? Looking back at the estimated reward delivery dates on our Kickstarter page, we realize that they’re a little convoluted (which can happen when you’re adding rewards that will be ready at different times).
